I am not a Doctor nor am I a Nutritionist or Dietitian. But all these 70 years of my life experience has given me so much to share with you all, irrespective of age.
I was born healthy to my parents and was very active during my childhood. During my college days, I became more active. I used to play lot of games and joined NCC (National Cadet Corps), which subsequently helped me to get commissioned into the Indian Army. I was quite healthy till I was 58 yrs old. It was then my health problems started. Now I am suffering from many ailments that one cannot think off. While serving in the Army, during a detailed medical check -up 1982, I was diagnosed for ECG abnormality since 1982
I am suffering from Macular Degeneration of my right eye, a retina problem, since 2004. All possible treatment has been done. Presently I get a blurred vision in my right eye. Luckily my left eye is not affected and my left eye is my life-line. Though I experience a combined vision effect, I still drive my motor bike and also drive our car very comfortably. Surprisingly, with my left eye, I still work for about three to four hours on an average on my computer daily.
Secondly, I am a Parkinson Disease (PD) patient and I am under medication since July 2009, as directed by the Neurologist. Now the situation is very much under control except that I have to continue my medication all through my life.
CRF – Another killer disease. In 2010 when I was hospitalized for my shoulder pain, clinical tests revealed that I have a Chronic Renal Failure (CRF). After reviewing the scan report the Nephrologist confirmed that both my kidneys function only about 50%. Since then I am under his medication.
In addition to the above I also take medicines for high Blood Pressure and Cholesterol. Very recently I was also diagnosed to have Umbilical Hernia and I underwent a major operation in September 2015.
All these developments gave me a mental shock because I have been following reasonably a good daily routine and in spite of that how could all these happen?
As and when they were detected, momentarily I used to get very upset; but then I decided to fight them out boldly. I take all my medication very regularly and visit my doctors as and when required. Now I don’t ever feel that I am a patient with many terminal diseases.
Today I very much enjoy every moment of my life with my family and with all our wonderful friends around, a pair of Labrador Bruno and Lyka, many pigeons taken shelter on our roof top, Red Whiskered Bulbuls, House Crows, and many other small birds that visit our house premises very often.
And here I would like to add that even at this stage I am busy with many activities – taking stills and videos, working on my computer, making videos and uploading them on my YouTube channel, ’GeorgeCMaliakal’ and helping others in making their dreams into a Reality.
I have still many Dreams and want make all those Dreams into a Reality. What a life? Well, that is life. We must learn to make our life more beautiful even under such stressful situation.
I know, my family would definitely feel very sad about making my health condition public. But if my Life Experience can help and inspire many similarly affected individuals and families, I have certainly achieved my objective of promoting my message, Life is beautiful, let’s make our Dreams into a Reality and make our Life more Beautiful.
